The CG ‘DELTA’ Front Locking Action system

DELTA 59 SINGLE SHOT (1).jpg

The CG ‘DELTA’ Front Locking Action system
DESCRIPTION
The CG “Delta”  range of front locking actions, internally named  ‘ DELTA Model 59’  and ‘DELTA Model 66’ in the C.G nomenclature is the front-locking counterpart of the now well known ‘.C.G INCH’ rear-locking single shot Match action.
The basic Delta system is of a 3-lugs design in triangular truncated  shape. It is based on the Remington 700 Short Action footprint  dimensions for the obvious reason of compatibility to numerous aftermarket accessories existing for this model, including stocks, triggers, but also magazines for the repeater models.
They are offered in 2 versions and 2 variants:
-Delta 59  LMT (Light Metal Target).        -Delta 59 LMR (Light Metal Repeater).
Both actions have a 38mm outside diameter.
-Delta 66  LTT (Light Tube receiver/stock Ttarget)                                                       -Delta 66 LTR (Light Tube receiver/stock Repeater)
The Models 66 are mentioned here as they share the same bolt, but are the subject of a separate description
-The Delta 59 LMT:                                                                                                             Single shot receiver, made from High Tec light metal alloy 7075T651 with reduced openings. Important functions of bplting and barrel holdind are performed by a single hardened tool steel insert, permanently and on a non-removable fashion in the Receiver body.
Primary extraction is ensured by a hardened ramp on which the Bolt shroud bears at end of opening rotation. Extraction Ramp is adjusted for a positive 2mm of primary extraction.
The LMT has 3 bedding screws, the two extremes being on Remington 700 location and spacing. The central one, situated 1.500’’ (38,1mm) behind the front one is countersink to maintain a possible recoil spigot, or also be used as third bedding screw for the fleXibed system for instance.
-The Delta 59 LMR:                                                                                             Repeater, receiver made from same metal as LMT. This model has an integral recoil lug positioned as the classic Remington 700 one. This design had allowed for both models the adoption of a longer internal threaded lengh t for barrel shank, with  one cylindrical register, close to the INCH principle of barrel centering and interchange.
The LMR 2 bedding screws are on the Rem 700 location and spacing. It uses aftermarket bottom metal for AICS magazines or box magazine for this model.
The Delta receivers accept the Remington-style trigger holding. The improvement here is that it is fixed by screwed crosspins (instead of being pressed-in) for an easy removal of the trigger.
Counter-lugs in the insert are not broached but instead milled during the CNC machining process. This  ensure a perfect concentricity and geometry not obtainable by broaching.
The bolt is the same for all models and is of the full diameter principle allowing a perfect and smooth motion. Guidance is ensured by the bolt stop lever  itself, who  retracts out of the raceway automatically at the end of the forward bolt stroke, when the lugs are already engaged in the insert counter-lugs, to permit bolt closure rotation,. At the end of the rearward stroke, the bolt stop lever also activate the C.G inertia ejector for controlled ejection.
The bolthead is of 120° tapered silhouette, fitting very closely indeed into a corresponding  female cone in the rear of the barrel. With this and the counter-lugs geometry in the bolting insert, the feeding of the cartridge into the chamber is without any hindrance  whatsoever, and whatever the cartridge dimensions.
The firing mechanism is specific. All parts are fully machined and adjustable. The firing system is powered indifferently by Belleville spring washers  or by a conventional coil spring. Also, the firing pin can be either the C.G inertia double-tipped reversible tip or conventional one-piece. Cocking is of the shroud principle with the shroud closed at the rear for safety, and easily removable from the bolt with no difficulty and no specific tools. Protrusion is factory pre-set, but can be adjusted. The double-tipped firing pin of the INCH is standard.
The bolthead shape allow the use of the wide extractor of the C.G INCH. An Inertia ejector of the well-proven C.G, C.G Quadlock and C.G Millenium principle is standard.
The OEM trigger will be the C.G Model 22 for Remington, but any aftermarket trigger intended for this fitting can be used. The fitting of the trigger is by means of the two crosspins, but the pins are fixed by screws allowing easy removal of the trigger for adjustment or maintenance.
