Under this title is a relation of the Swing, Paramount,Imperial,C.G-RPA,Quadlock and Millenium. This first part start in 1971 and end up around the end of the last century.

UNE HISTOIRE POUR MES AMIS.

A DIFFERENT PERCUSSION SPRING SYSTEM.

            The spring washers or spring disks, commonly named in the industry ‘Belleville Washers’ from their inventor, Julien Belleville constitute an axial compression spring  system delivering important forces  under a small volume but  under a small unit displacement

            Assembled in multiple opposed pairs, the linear displacement  capacity increase the stroke in proportion of the number of pairs stacked, but the load capacity remain those of a single spring washer.

            Just a mention: the Belleville washers can be assembled in multiples, the assembly force being multiplied by the number of washers placed on the same direction, but the stroke  of such assemblies will remain those of a singlewasher.

            In the case of the use of Belleville washers as firing pin  spring, the washers will be assembled  in single opposite pairs, their number being determined by the FP stroke  and the stack height by the number of washers used and their compression height at the desired force.

            The use of Belleville washers allow:

            -A more compact spring : In our example,in the C.G system, the cocked and decocked lengths are, for the coil spring 56 and  60mm respectively while they are only 21,5 and 25,5mm for the Belleville stack.

            --A stronger percussion impact force, adjustable by adding or removing washers.

            --A reduction of the spring  mass. If the coil spring mass is  10,6grammes, while it is only 8,8 grammes for the 43 Belleville washers stack (6,2x12,5x0,35).

            --Moreover, the Belleville, being used only at a fraction of their nominal full capacity they have a  much longer durability than a coil spring used at its full capacity.

            --Finalley, being used well  under full capacity, and at a decocked reduced  load rate,  their regularity and reliability are total. Effectively, their force curve is almost linear, from free height to 75% of their minimal height.

            They correspond to the exigences of a constraining norm (DIN 2093). They are also cheap and easily available.

            Their  superior capacities and reactivity  allow a faster locktime.

            Belleville washers are characterized by:

                        External diameter                         = ’De’.

                        Internal diameter                           = ’di’.

                        Thickness                                        = ‘t’.

                        Free height                                      = ‘L0’.

                        Height under maximal load         = ‘L1’.

                        Load under’ L1’                              = ‘P1’.

            The Rate practically increase in linear fashion between ‘L0’ and ‘L1’. Over ‘L1’, ‘P1’ does not increase anymore. A Belleville washer should never be compressed over ‘L1’.

            In our example; the due to the  flexibility of the Belleville washers,  the use of several references is possible . The one we will use will have the following characteristics:

                        ‘De’ = 12,5mm.

                        ‘Di’ = 6,2mm.

                        ‘t’ = 0,35mm.

                        ‘L0’ = 0,80mm.

                        ‘L1’= 0,46mm.

                        ‘P1’= 155Newton.

            In our case:

--47 Bellevilles will develop 151 Newton (33,3lbs/f).

-45 Bellevilles will develop  144 Newton (31,7lbd/f).

--43 Bellevilles will develop 127Newton (28lbs/f).

--41 Bellevilles will develop  122Newton (26,9lbs/f).

Observations:

            47 Bellevilles will give an excessively powerful.

            45 Bellevilles will give a still powerful impact  and and the fastest locktime.

            43 Bellevilles  will represent the perfect compromise: locktime still very fast and easy bolt lift.

            41 Bellevilles : If the easy bolt lift is preferred, with still a strong impact force and  locktime, both  superior to the coil springs ones (122Newton as against 108 for coil spring..

            NOTE: Philippe Ginestet ,  who have shot and still do, all the C.G models since the prototype 02 of 1985 underline  that the Bellevilles ‘Power Pack’ is totally exempt of vibrations  and become immediately inert  at the   firing instant  and does not generate any secondary noise meaning  detrimental vibrations, contrary to coil springs.  This difference is for Philippe perfectly discernable  in the hearing protection.

 TRIGGERS WITH ‘DIFFERENCES’.

     Following numerous disappointments in my relationship with Xtreme Shooting Products : disrespect of the terms of the licencing agreement and quality and non-performance problems ,the licencee having had  several hundreds triggers rejected for quality and non-conformity reasons  by NSWC  Crane (Naval Surface Warfare Command,Crane Naval Base,Indiana), the organisation managing the Mk13 sniper rifle project of the SOCOM, I have been led to put an  end  to the licence agreement end of 2016.

      I believe XTSP no longer produce and should not sell C.G triggers anympre but it is likely they exhaust their inventory , notably those rejected by NSWC ?.

I have proposed  Geissele Automatics the trigger model. Bill Geissele, who had just received a request from NSWC for the supply of a trigger for the Mk13 Model 7, immediately saw the possibilities of the C.G mechanism and, on this basis, had built a Geissele Super Mk13 he perfected to a point that forces total admiration :

-Triple redundant safety locking each moving element of the trigger.

-Elimination of each possible friction point and all elements treated by Nano-Weapon, a Geissele proprietary PVD coaring,  low friction and wear resistant at a hardness of over 80 Rockwell ‘C’ . Also completely corrosion-resistant.

-2-stage, fixed final pull at 3,5lbs.

-The trigger, submitted to the NSWC tests have passed successfully the tortures, notably the fall of the rifle from a height of 1,5metre on a steel plate. The Geissele Super Mk13 trigger, not only passed the test with the safety ON, but also, to the testers amazement, also with the safety OFF. It was for them the first time ever to pass the test safety OFF . They successfully repeated the operation time and time again for the same result.

The Geissele Mk13 trigger is now in production and adopted for the Mk13  Model 7.

     From this great achievement , Bill Geissele and his team  have developped a model for the Remington 700 and its numerous variants and clones. This Suoer 700 is entirely ‘Drop In’ and has s safety system as of the same principle as  the Super Mk13 and all the adjustments necessary for a precision trigger. The trigger pull is adjustable fron .750 to 3,5lbs 

         A unique  particularity of this trigger is its capacity to be set indiferently for Single or Two-Stage modes. The Geissele Super 700 was unveiled with great success at the recent 2018 SHOT Show. Bill Geissele named it ‘The Smile Maker’ watching the expression of   all  those who dry-fred it. For me, it is simply ‘The Best of the Best’ on all aspects.

DES DETENTES avec ‘DIFFERENCES’ .

     Suite a de nombreux déboires dans mes relations avec XTreme Shooting Products : non-respect des termes de notre contrat de licence et problèmes de qualité, le licencié ayant notamment s’être vu refussr plusieurs centaines de détentes par le NSWC  Crane (Naval Surface Warfare Center,Crane Naval Base en Indiana), gestionnaire du projet sniper rifle  Mk13 du USSOCOM (Special Operations Command) pour des problèmes de qualité etde non-conformité .

Pour ces raisons, j’ai été amené a mettre fin a notre contrat de licence en 2016.

Je pense que XTSP ne produit plus  de détentes C.G et devrait ne plus vendre, mais il est probable qu’elle liquide ses stocks, notamment ceux refusés pour le Mk13.

     J’ai proposé à Geissele Automatics le modèle de détente. Bill Geissele, qui venait de recevoir une demande de NSWC(Naval Surface Warfare Command) pour la fourniture d’une détente pour le système Mk13, a tout de suite vu les qualités du mécanisme C.G et, sur cette base, a construit une détente Geissele Super Mk13 qu’il a perfectionnée a un point qui  force l’admiration :

-Sécurité 3 points qui bloque chaque élément du mécanisme.

-Elimination de toute possibilité de friction et traitement de tous les éléments par Nano-Weapon, un revêtement anti-friction propre à Geissele  de très grande dureté,supérieure a 80 Rockwell’ C’. Ce revêtement est  de belle couleur noire et totalement anti-corrosion.

-Double détente, poids de départ fixe de 3,5lbs.

Les détentes Super Mk13 soumises aux essais de NSWC-Crane  ont passé avec succès toutes les tortures, notamment la chute de l’arme d’une hauteur de 1m50 sur une plaque d’acier. La détente Geissele Super Mk13 est la seule à ce jour à avoir passé ce test, non seulement sûreté engagée, mais surtout  sûrreté  désengagée.  Cela était tellement nouveau pour les essayeurs que l’essai a été répété de nombreuses fois , et la détente n’a jamais failli .

La détente Geissele Mk13 est maintenant en production, adoptée pour le Mk13 Model 7.

      Les  caractéristiques du Mk13 sont :

-Action : Stiller Mk13 long action.

-Canon : Lilja Mk13, Inox microbillé, 26pouces, pas 10 pouces, 4 rayures.

-Calibre : .300 Winchester Magnum.

-Crosse : Accuracy International Mk13 Model7 AICS long, brun clair.

-Rails : 20MOA, action et forearm.

-D étente : Geissele Super Mk13, 2-stage, rélée a 2,5lbs.

-Cache-flames : Surefire SOCOM SFMB-762..

-Bipied Harris.

-Silencieux : Surefire SOCOM 762-RC.

            Ou :    Knights Armament Mk13-SD.

     Forts de cette grande réussite . Bill Geissle et son équipe ont développé une version destinée au système Remington 700, et ses nombreux  dérivés et clones . Cette Super 700 est totalement ‘Drop In’ et comporte le système de triple sûreté similaire a  la Super Mk13 et tous les réglages nécessaires à une détente de précision . Le poids de détente est réglable de330 à 1600 grammes. Tous les éléments du mouvement sont aussi traités Nano-Weapon.

     Une particularité unique est sa capacité d’être indifféremment utilisable en détente directe ou à bossette (Single or 2-Stage) . Cette détente a été présentée au SHOT Show 2018 où elle a rencontré un énorme succès . Bill Geissele l’a surnommée la « Smile Maker » au vu du sourire béat arboré par tous ceux qui l’ont essayée. Pour moi, elle serait aussi « The Best of the Best » sous tous ses aspects.
